Building the Field of Regenerative Media
Media is the most powerful lever for change of our generation.
MICRO STUDIO PROTOTYPE | Gibsons, BC
reGEN impact media is in the planning, design, and early development stage of our micro-studio on the top floor of the Gibsons Public Market in Gibsons, BC.
A SCALABLE HUB-AND SPOKE MODEL FOR REGENERATIVE MEDIA
We are deeply grateful to live, work, and play on the inspiring traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Nation.
Our collaborative work model is centred in rural homebase, employing a hub-and-spoke approach that marries community-based economic development with a media-technology showcase platform to empower, uplift, and inspire the many voices who have stories to share with global friends and fans united in a common vision for what becomes possible when we unlock the power of our imaginations to create a better future.
We operate in 230 square feet and are setting out to test a regenerative media model that explores the following:

- Rural communities are a great homebase for micro hubs and provide a truly reciprocal relationship that strengthens local talent development and community economic development.
- Larger mainstream studios in urban settings are looking for unique partnership opportunities with niche studios that focus on impact entertainment projects, regenerative films, Indigenous stories, and quality impact campaigns.
- Freelancers from across the globe are ready and waiting to be a part of great creative teams of quality people working on solid and meaningful projects. Artists and creators want time for their own projects while at the same time earning enough freelance revenue to support their lifestyle.
- A new sector is emerging in Impact Entertainment, and reGEN impact media wants to be first-in-market. As a pioneer in this new industry, we set talent pipelines, mentoring, practicum, and internship opportunities not only for creatives but also for support teams in new media, digital storytelling, and creative design who will support them.
- Marrying the reGEN hub-and-spoke model with our a reGEN Story Hub media-technology showcase platform aims to empower, uplift, and inspire the many voices who have stories to share with global friends and fans united in a common vision for what becomes possible when we unlock the power of our imaginations to create a better future.
The role of regenerative media in a rural community setting is one of placemaking and spacemaking.
Storytelling brings people together from all walks of life to enjoy human connection, ignite inspiration, and spark conversation.
From new friendships and palpable possibilities percolating at the periphery of a room to the core untapped potential lies in our hearts.
We draw inspiration from these creative constellation partners.

“Modern media is both wonderful and scary. It represents both the best of what people have to offer and the worst. It can include beautiful works of art by independent artists that tell stories to lift the human spirit and pass along cultural lessons and values or, as is so often the case today, is a mindless clickbait article or listicle about “10 celebrities who don’t wash their hair every day.“ That’s because modern media content is increasingly being determined by finely-tuned algorithms optimizing for clicks, engagement, and ultimately profitability, rather than any higher purpose.
“Meanwhile, an increasing number of studies are demonstrating strong links between our consumption of digital and social media with an increased risk for depression, anxiety, loneliness, self-harm, and even suicidal thoughts. Continuing to allow companies to A/B test on us at scale for the sole purpose of optimizing their profitability, without regard for the toll it takes on our physical and emotional well-being, is a recipe for disaster.
