What if one evening could change the way you imagine what’s possible?
Join us for a special Western Canadian screening of IMAGINE, a Food + Film Night celebrating the 5th Anniversary of the Indigitech Summit, bringing together good food, bold ideas, Indigenous knowledge, youth and community for an evening designed to spark conversation and possibility.
Doors open at 5:30 pm, and we’ll begin with a hosted reception at 6 pm at the WAVE Tech Centre located at 133 - 6 Ave SE featuring local Calgary caterers, opening remarks, and time to connect, followed by an 80-minute screening (started at approximately 6:50-8:15 pm) of the extraordinary animated film IMAGINE, with conversation, Q&A and closing reflections afterwards (8:15-8:30 pm).
Bring your family. Bring your team. Bring your book club, founder circle, or favourite group of curious humans.

What if imagination is one of the most important forms of infrastructure we have?
IMAGINE is unlike most films you’ll see.
Co-created by more than 400 people through a global collective storytelling process, the film follows 15-year-old Kim and their alien dog companion Jeff through a surreal, funny, confronting and deeply imaginative universe.
Beneath its unconventional animation and dream-like storytelling is something much deeper: Indigenous systems thinking and an exploration of identity, technology, climate, nature, healing and our profound interconnectedness.
The film isn’t asking you to figure everything out. It is asking you to stay curious. To feel. To notice. And perhaps to remember something our increasingly optimized world has caused us to forget.
How we use our imagination will determine our future.
This isn’t a film about escaping reality. It’s about imagining our way back into relationship with it.

What might become possible if Indigenous knowledge, youth voice and collective imagination moved closer to the beginning of how we design our future?
At a time when technology is advancing rapidly, climate pressures are intensifying and many young people are navigating unprecedented levels of noise and disconnection, IMAGINE offers something surprisingly hopeful.
Not another prediction of what comes next: An invitation to participate in creating it.

Before the lights go down, we’ll gather. The evening begins with a hosted reception marking five years of Indigitech (opens in new tab)(opens in new tab), with local food, remarks and space to meet some of the founders, innovators, storytellers, families, Indigenous leaders, systems thinkers and socially conscious Calgarians joining us.
Then we experience IMAGINE together. And afterwards, we talk.
Because perhaps the most interesting part of a film about collective imagination is discovering what happens when a room full of people begins imagining together.

Do you need childcare?
We are looking into whether childcare is required for the evening in order to make this event accessible for parent of young children. This is something we are exploring at this time. Upon registering, you will see a spot to indicate whether this would be helpful for you. Please let us know.
Event costs
This is a community event. Registration costs are minimal to cover event costs, including catering, the film, and supplies. You will notice a minimum of $29 has been set, and again to make it as accessible as possible, please add your guests (youth, children) so we can track numbers. If you are able to register at the suggested price of $39, that's greatly appreciated too.
