A New Model for Independent Media Starts Here

Why the Old Independent Media Model No Longer Works

The independent media ecosystem for screen-based artists, filmmakers, storytellers, and content creators is undergoing a profound shift.

reGEN Impact Media is working at the leading edge of this transition by walking beside regenerative artists, storytellers, and filmmakers in ways that are just as transformative for the creator as they are for the creation.

For decades, the prevailing model has been unsustainable.

A filmmaker might spend 5–10 years developing a single project, struggle to secure financing, and ultimately receive minimal financial return. Too often, the cost is borne personally, emotionally, and economically, leaving little stability to support themselves, their families, or future work.

The reGEN Cohort exists to interrupt that pattern.

Rather than asking storytellers to sacrifice their wellbeing for their work, we focus on regenerative creation. A model where creative output, personal sustainability, and long-term impact are designed together. Where momentum replaces scarcity, and artists are supported not only to release a film, but to build a rhythm of creation, income, and influence over time.

Our annual Creative Showcase offers a glimpse into what becomes possible when storytellers are resourced differently.

It is proof of concept.

Proof of capacity.

And proof that a more sustainable, human-centered future for independent storytelling is not only possible, it is already underway.

GAME ON! – the first reGEN Originals series – turns transformation into our new sport. With the energy of an NFL pregame show, it blends real-life action and storytelling to spotlight changemakers driving innovation, creativity, and impact.

A place to grow into the storyteller you’re becoming, the Regenerative Creation Cohort

Over the next five years, reGEN is building the foundation for a new category of media – regenerative media – where storytelling is treated not as content to extract, but as a living practice that shapes culture, wellbeing, and belonging.

The Regenerative Creation Cohort is where this future begins.

This is where the first generation of regenerative storytellers is being cultivated – 36 creatives whose voices, visions, and bodies of work are given the time, care, and support required to mature.

By 2035, reGEN envisions a fully realized ecosystem where Regenerative Storytellers and NextGEN filmmakers are shaping new landscapes of film, media, and impact-first content – work that reaches broad and diverse audiences while remaining deeply rooted in values, care, and connection.

This future includes decentralized micro-studios, relational production models, and training pathways that allow creatives to stay grounded in place and community while participating in a global media network.

The Cohort is an on-ramp into this ecosystem.

The reGEN Creation Cohort is establishing a legacy
