We’re not watching systems change. We’re inside the recalibration.
We’re in the shift in a way you can feel, even if you can’t fully name it yet. We are living and leading inside a historical reorganization. Across economies. Across media. Across how we relate to time, energy, nature, and one another.
And yes… parts of it feel like breakdown. But at the very same time, something else is coming online.
My sense is… this is the tension you’ve been holding. The knowing that we can’t continue with the same patterns that got us here. And the disorientation that comes with stepping into something not fully formed.
What if this tension isn’t a problem? What if it’s the signal that transformation is not only underway, but available?
Transformation doesn’t move in a straight line
For a long time, we’ve been taught to think of change as a sequence. First, personal growth. Then, collective alignment. Then, systems change. But that’s not how it actually happens.
Transformation moves in layers. It weaves. Individual awareness. Relational dynamics. Cultural narratives. Emerging technologies. All influencing one another. In real time.
You’re not waiting your turn. You’re already inside it.
The quiet truth about priorities
I’ve worked in transformation my entire professional life. When I left the investment services industry in 2000, I remember thinking: I’m grateful, but my soul feels empty. I want to do this differently.
That decision surprised people. But it set everything in motion. In my early years, I worked closely with athletes, leaders, and women stepping into higher performance. And one of the simplest tools I used was this:
“Show me your calendar.”
Because priorities don’t lie. What we say we want, and how we actually live, often don’t match. That space in between? That’s where transformation begins.
The friction you might be feeling
If you’re building something right now… you’ve likely felt this. You are being called to create what comes next while still being evaluated by what is falling apart.
You can feel what’s possible. You can begin to see it. And yet you’re still being asked to:
- fit outdated models
- justify through legacy metrics
- move at speeds that don’t match the moment
It’s not just inefficient. It’s exhausting. Because you’re holding two realities at once — the system as it is, and the system as it is becoming.
If that’s you… I see you.
Preparation isn’t before. It’s during.
One of the biggest misconceptions about transformation is that preparation comes first. It doesn’t. Preparation happens in the middle. While things are shifting. While clarity is incomplete. While the path is still revealing itself.
This is where many people pause. Waiting for certainty. But meaningful change has never worked that way.
The threshold we’re crossing
There’s a simple formula from change theory that speaks directly to this moment: change happens when the pull toward a desired future, combined with clear first steps, becomes stronger than resistance.
We are living inside that equation right now. And something has shifted. The desired future is no longer abstract. People can feel it. See it. Almost touch it.
Through the technology we engage with daily, we are already rehearsing the future we want to live in. That changes everything.
From prediction to alignment
We’ve been taught to prepare through prediction. Forecasts. Models. Controlled scenarios. But in a moment like this, prediction has limits. Alignment matters more.
- Are you aligned with what you value?
- Are you aligned with what you’re building?
- Are your daily actions aligned with the future you say you want?
Readiness doesn’t come from certainty. It comes from being grounded enough to respond wisely as things unfold.
How change actually unfolds
Over the years, I’ve watched the same pattern repeat:
- A realization appears.
- A practice begins to embody it.
- A community forms around it.
- Systems begin to reorganize.
Not in sequence. Together.
The people who can stay present through this process — without collapsing back into old patterns — are the ones shaping what comes next.
This isn’t happening to us
It’s easy to feel like we’re being swept up. But this moment isn’t just happening to us. It’s happening through us. Through what we choose. Through what we build. Through what we reinforce… or refuse.
You have a role in the future that’s emerging. We all do.
So what now?
Imagine more clearly. Not someday. Not vaguely. Specifically. What does better actually look like? What does it feel like? What is it asking of you?
Then prepare differently. Not by forcing old models to fit, but by strengthening your capacity: clarity, energy, discernment, resilience. Like a muscle. Because that’s what this moment is asking of us.
An invitation
This Spring, I’m opening a carefully curated circle of Akin Beta Builders, alongside a series of intimate, in-person Possibility Pop-Ups, starting in Portland next month (April 2026).
Spaces for grounded conversation, human-centered exploration of media and technology, and practical alignment with what’s emerging. Not theory. Practice.
If you can feel the shift — and you know you’re here to build within it, not just observe it — you’re welcome.
Transformation, by design.
It starts within. And it’s already underway.
